The project was completed in March 2024 in Chantily, VA. Woodwork and installation made by Alex Birch. Countertops and backsplash by our partners at Tyson's Granite. This light grey kitchen which replaced an outdated oak cabinets features a farmhouse style sink, a wine rack above the fridge, built in speed oven and microwave.
Also as a part of remodeling we made a vent going through the ceiling to the outside and replaced several square feet of rotted subfloor under the sink area. The kitchen features a large island with large drawers on one side and closed door cabinets on another.
The top of the kitchen cabinets is decorated with crown molding that was installed with precision and no gaps at all at connection points which requires accurate cuts on painted surfaces.
Project like that is considered mid grade and priced around $20-25K including cabinets, countertops and appliances. Of course price can change depending on what options the client chooses.
We work with every budget and will try to make the best of it. Here is the rest of the kitchen. Sorry about the mess on the countertops - we still had some stuff laying there and did not clean up before taking pictures.

But time goes on and new trends in kitchen remodeling take their rightful place. Here is our take on kitchen remodeling trends of 2025-2026.
1. Warm and Natural Tones
One of the biggest trends in kitchen remodeling is a shift toward warm, natural tones. Homeowners are moving away from stark white kitchens and embracing earthy colors like beige, taupe, olive green, and deep blues. Wood elements, such as walnut and white oak cabinets, are making a comeback, adding warmth and character. These natural hues create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making the kitchen feel more like a comfortable living space rather than just a place to cook.
2. Mixed Material Countertops
Countertops are no longer limited to just quartz or granite. Many homeowners are opting for mixed-material countertops, combining stone, wood, and even concrete for a unique, layered look. For instance, a kitchen island might feature a luxurious marble slab for food prep, while a butcher block section is incorporated for chopping and dining. This mix of materials not only adds visual interest but also enhances functionality by providing different surfaces for various tasks.
3. Smart Kitchen Technology
Technology continues to transform kitchen spaces, making them more efficient and convenient. Smart appliances, like refrigerators with touch screens and ovens controlled via smartphone apps, are becoming standard in modern kitchen remodels. Voice-activated faucets and lighting systems add another layer of convenience, allowing homeowners to control their kitchen with minimal effort. These innovations help streamline cooking, reduce waste, and enhance the overall experience in the kitchen.
4. Statement Backsplashes
While subway tiles remain a classic choice, more homeowners are opting for bold, statement backsplashes. Large-format tiles, intricate mosaics, and even full-slab backsplashes made of marble or quartz are trending. These designs add a dramatic focal point and can completely transform the look of a kitchen. Additionally, textured and three-dimensional tiles are gaining popularity, offering depth and character to the space.
5. Hidden Storage and Organization
Maximizing storage while maintaining a sleek look is a major focus in kitchen remodels. Custom cabinetry with built-in organizers, pull-out shelves, and hidden compartments is in high demand. Appliance garages, which conceal coffee makers and toasters behind cabinet doors, help keep countertops clutter-free. Additionally, deep drawers with dividers for pots and pans make organization easier, ensuring that everything has its designated place.
6. Multi-Functional Kitchen Islands
Kitchen islands are evolving beyond just extra counter space—they are becoming the centerpiece of the kitchen. Many remodels now feature oversized islands with built-in seating, storage, and even second sinks or cooktops. Some designs include waterfall edges, which add a sleek, modern touch. With more people using their kitchens as gathering spaces for entertaining, work, and dining, these multi-functional islands are a must-have feature in today’s remodels.
